How To Add An Artistic Touch To Your Bookshelf

by Donna Gilles 12/10/2017

Bookshelves are typically placed in studies or in the home office. While we live in a technology saturated world, books are still a staple for learning. They’re classic items that will stand the test of time. Bookcases are also versatile pieces of furniture. Books can also be incorporated into your decor really easily. The bookshelf is a place where items are often moved to be used. This can cause unwanted clutter. These tips will help you bring your decor and your organization to a whole other level in rooms where bookshelves reside. As a bonus, your bookshelf will stay organized! Make Use Of File Holders File holders work wonders for keeping magazines and loose articles organized. It’s a great way to keep these items contained and easy to access. This is also the perfect way to hide the clutter of loose papers and items that won’t fit perfectly together. Use Creative Containers For Office Supplies Use glass containers to keep paperclips, pens and post-its organized in your home office. This tactic reduces clutter and seconds as decor. You can even use mugs, vases, or other types of containers for the purpose of holding these items. Use containers that suit your style. Scrapbook Paper Can Add Color To Shelves Scrapbook paper is fairly inexpensive. You can use it to back the shelves of your bookcase in order to add splashes of color to the office or study. Just secure matching sheets of the scrapbook paper to the wall of the bookshelf and voila, you have transformed your bookshelf to a world of color. Display Collections Amidst Books If you’re a collector, spread the collection throughout the shelves of the bookcase. This will add a personal, artistic touch to the shelving and allow you to creatively display your prized possessions at the same time. Color Code Books You can make your bookshelf even more fun by color coding your books. When you walk into the room, the bookshelf will appear as a perfect rainbow of color. This is a fun, eclectic way to organize your books. Feature Your Art On the Bookshelf There are no rules when it comes to arranging your bookshelf. You can certainly hang or display works of art in and on the shelves themselves. Think of hanging a small picture from the front of the unit, or use one shelf to display standing portraits. There’s so much that can done with a simple bookshelf and some books to make it your own. The places around your home that you express yourself is what gives your home character. While a bookshelf may seem like a boring piece of furniture that is to be used for one purpose, you can see that this isn’t true. You can really do anything that you can imagine with your bookshelf and its contents.
